You must be familiar with the above photo. It is of course the photo of the default wallpaper for the Luna theme in Windows XP, and it’s the most used wallpaper for Windows PC user alls all of over the world. According to an online report, this photograph titled “Bliss” has been viewed by over one billion people around the world since it’s been published in 2002, and is the most viewed photograph to date.

But did you know that this photo was taken by a former National Geographic photographer named Charles O’Rear? At the time, O’Rear was in a vineyard retreat in Napa Valley, California. This photograph was taken from the side of the 12/121 road. It’s been speculated that this photo was taken in 3050 Fremont Dr. (Sonoma Hwy.), Sonoma, California.

Maybe at first you may think that this photograph was a digitally created image (a 3D image) and not an actual photograph. But O’Rear has ensure that this is a genuine photograph that hasn’t been significantly manipulated.

Here is a photo of the same location taken in November 2006 during the autumn season.
