Architectural photography at its best will convey the experience of being in and around a built environment. It is a broad subject, encompassing everything from skyscrapers to shacks. Virtually everywhere we go, we are surrounded by some sort of architecture on a daily basis. Because of this, it should come as no surprise that architecture is such a popular subject in photography.
Despite its diversity, there are a number of principles and techniques which can be applies to most situations. Keeping them in mind at all times will encourage you to think more carefully about your framing, composition, and lighting.

1. Lady Diana

The above photo was the last photo ever before the crash happened. Many press/paparazi raced to print it as the last photo of the princess. As seen, only her golden hair is visible in this photograph.
The photo was taken on the car ride from Hotel Ritz in Paris at around 12:20 AM on August 31, 1997. Henri Paul, the hotel chauffeur is on the right and Dodi Fayed’s bodyguard named Trevor Reese-Jones is seen seated on the passenger seat. On the back seat is princess Diana (looking back towards the papparazzi that’s following them) with Dodi Fayed seated next to her. A few seconds after this photo was taken, the Mercedes drove into the Place de L’Alma tunnel. Estimated to be going 105 km/h (65 mph), the driver lost control of the car and steered right before smashing into a column of the tunnel. Dodi Fayed and Henri Paul both died instantly. Trevor Reese-Jones survived with severe injuries on his face. Diana was critical, but then died the next morning in the hospital.

1. Wiley Post & Will Rogers

Wiley Post was the first solo pilot to have flown around the world along with his best friend Will Rogers, who were also both a famous comedian and social commentator. This photograph (Will on the left standing on the plane’s wing sporting a tie and a hat) was taken on August 15, 1935, before their aircraft took off from Alaska. Once the aircraft was airport, with the land crew witnessing, the aircraft blew up due to engine failure and instantly killed them both. The airfield in Alaska where the incident occur is now named Wiley Post – Will Rogers Memorial Airport.

2. John and Jackie Knill

In January 13, 2005, two bodies of a Canadia couple were found on the coast of Thailand. They were both victims of the massive tsunami that struck Southeast Asia in December 26, 2004 that killed many. A week after, a Seattle American officer evacuating the tsunami victims found a broken digital camera and saved the memory card. The officer looked though the photos and saw that the last photo of their vacation photographs show a massive wave minutes before it struck them that dated 8:30 AM December 26. The officer that found said camera spread the photos over the internet as a missing person report. Once someone recognized them, he sent the photos to their surviving children in Vancouver, Canada.
